PHOENICIA. Tyre. 126/5 BC-AD 65/6. Shekel (Silver, 24 mm, 14.20 g, 12 h), CY 135 = AD 9/10. Laureate head of Melkart to right, lion skin tied around neck. Rev. TYP[OY IEPAΣ] KAI AΣYΛOY Eagle standing left on prow, wings closed and with palm frond behind; to left, ΡΛE above club; to right, KP above monogram of ΦΔN; between eagle's legs, 𐤁 (B in Punic). DCA Tyre 483 var. (S; uncertain letter, but probably alef, between legs). HGC 10, 357. RPC I 4654. Lightly toned and unusually attractive. Some small scratches and marks, otherwise, very fine.
